Review
5 stars for this dark, twisted, crazy, intense and completely beautiful story. I loved it from beginning to end, I could not stop until I finished it, I practically inhaled the pages. I was consumed and obsessed with the plot and characters!!
Mrs. Fantôme is very versatile because she can write all kinds of genre and keep you totally hooked, but her dark stories are complete perfection and this was beyond my expectations.
This is a different story, completely unusual but despite madness everything fits perfectly, the story is twisted, the plot is brilliant and perfect. Dark among the darkest, but everything has an explanation and is exceptionally ingenious..
Church and Emma are two completely different and unusual characters, but
so complex and well developed, both are broken for different reasons, and they fight with their inner demons, afraid to embrace them because their fantasy would become reality and in the end those same demons could dominate them and turn them into monsters.
I loved the internal monologues of the characters and as the story unfolds, the characters left me completely and absolutely in love.
The author is simply a genius, I love all the stories of Mrs. Fantôme, from her comedies to the dark ones, but it is beyond genius, it is a masterpiece, with unexpected twists that will keep you eating your nails, and containing the breathing, ending in a not major cliffhanger, but prepare for the second book, the little snippet at the end left me looking forward to October.
Very very recommended to lovers of dark stories.

Author Bio
Crazy woman
from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a
necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about
right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see
shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm
clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.
I like dogs
more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I
do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the
year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a
curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't
understand me.
Yeah. I
think that about sums me up.
